Application Note...
PCS400 and Model 410
Application:
Production characterization of process pressure transducers
Challenge:
Characterization of an industrial grade pressure transmitter with 0.25% to 0.1% full scale accuracy and temperature compensation of -20 to +65 degrees C. Pressure ranges of 0-0.8 to 0-6000 psi were required.

Solution:
The customer designed an automated system incorporating three PCS400s, a Model 410 High Pressure Pneumatic Calibrator and a temperature controlled oven. A PC using custom designed software, developed by the customer, controls the system. It incorporates solenoid valves to route the pressure to the appropriate device(s) and to isolate inactive controllers. The PC controls the oven temperature and system pressures (via Mensor controllers) within the specified range of the transducer under test. Communication is achieved via the IEEE port on the Mensor PCS400 and HART protocol from the transducer under test. Temperature and pressure is ramped up and down to collect data on each individual transducer. This data is used to characterize each transducer in order to achieve the accuracy and temperature specification.
