Application Note...

Series 6000 Digital Pressure Transducer

Application:

The customer was using a pressure indicator / transmitter to control nitrogen pressure in three large-volume tank. The tanks are used to supply pressure to an automated pressure-sensor production line. The pressure in the tanks is controlled by solenoid valves that charge or exhaust the tanks in response to feedback from the transducer. The tank pressure is ported to a test fixture where another transmitter is used as the calibration standard.

Challenge:

The customer did not need the indicator, so they were looking for an economical yet accurate blind transmitter. The three tanks were controlled at 30, 100 and 300 psig. They wanted a digital output to go directly to their computer. The solenoids for all three tanks were controlled from one computer. Sense he had multiple sensors, he needed the RS485 communication option, but he did not want to buy a RS485 card for his computer.

Solution:

The Mensor Series 6000 Digital Pressure Transducer was a perfect fit for their application. A demo was sent for evaluation. We suggested that they use a RS485 output and utilize a RS485 to RS232 converter to get the signal into the computer. They also decided to use the Model 6000 as their calibration standard at the workstation.
