Model 8201
Air Data Test Set
The Model 8201 Air Data Test Set (ADTS) (also called a Pitot Static Test Set) is a dual channel, precision pressure calibrator / controller that simulates altitude (Ps) and airspeed (Qc) to test various aircraft avionics instruments such as altimeters, air data computers, rate of climb meters and vertical speed indicators.
The Model 8201 has the capability of generating and measuring two accurate pressures and pressure rates simultaneously. Each channel utilizes high performance silicon sensors to provide high accuracy and excellent long term stability. Information for both channels is provided on a color VGA display. Key parameters for both channels are displayed simultaneously so that the user is able to enter separate commands for Ps and Qc.
When the Air Data Test Set is in operation, there are ten different display screens that provide information to the aircraft technician. The main screen provides the following information for each channel: channel data, command pressure, actual pressure and pressure units. After progressing through the setup screen, the operator normally will only use the main screen for active operation of the ADTS.
The internal design of the system allows for either two absolute sensors (Ps and Pt) with Qc being derived or the use of sensors for Ps and Qc where Pt is derived. The accuracy of the pressure readings is 0.010 % of full scale for either sensor configuration.
